SMURFS in town

I got lucky when I was in IPC last weekend. I met my favourite blue character ♥ ♥ ♥

SMURFS! I heart you all! ♥ ♥ ♥

Do you know them? *high five* if YES, means you're from my era :p How can you forget such cute blue creatures right?

And so there I was queing up at the line for photo shoot with Chipmunks when my Smurfs were at the other end of the hall. I contained my excitement and patiently waited until it was our turn to snap pics with Chipmunks before zooming to the other side of the hall with Cavan in tow! hahahaha......

Yours truly and Cavan with da "grown up" Smurfs!! ♥ ♥ ♥

Back home I still have my Smurfs stuff toy - 2 large 2 small :)) They have been with me for 20 odd years now. I still remember getting my first Smurfs (all 4 of em) from my brother when I visited him in Switzerland. It's something that I treasured till now for I cant find it in KL then.

my 4-piece Smurfs collection

With the upcoming Smurfs movie, it'll be no surprise to see Smurfs merchandise selling all over now..... Let me know if you spot any stalls selling it, I wanna go check em out!

Singapore Business Trip

I was down in the Lion City - Singapore for a week towards end of March 2011. It was for a 4 days training cum 1 day meeting at our Asia Head Office.

Took the earlier flight down to SG to meet up with my classmate Andrew who recently went down to SG to work. After checking into Parkroyal on Kitchener Road and unloading my stuff, I headed out to the streets and spend a whooping 6 hours on feet!!
We started by going to the famous Orchard Road, popping in and out of the malls. On the roadside, spotted old folks selling ice-cream. A bit pitiful sight as the old folks are still working for a living. On the positive side, they are an active lot! Costing SG1, I opted for my ice-cream on wafer although the famous is ice-cream bun which I find too filling.

From there we proceeded to Marina Bay Sands (MBS). From walking on the street, to taking the convenient MRT, to undergrounds which don't feel at all as though I'm dunno how many feet down under, we arrived at Marina Bay Sands and it was a lovely sight!

Spend about two there I guess thus I saw both the day and night scene. Was also lucky to watch the water laser show which was fabulous.
By the time I'm back to the hotel, I'm dead tired and thus rested for a full 4 days training ahead. The next couple of days were spend in the hotel itself. Each night will see me meeting my classmate Andrew, another friend Meng, my sister in law and ex + current colleague while checking out the many sites in SG.

Part of the attendees of the 4 days training having dinner together

I went to Newton Food Centre as well as the Singapore Flyer. Dinner tastes better at the Singapore Flyer and I'm surprised as it's a tourist area. Guess they selected all the best hawker stalls to be there.

The last day saw me going to our Asia HQ Office for meeting. This was specifically for the HR Team. Had a great sharing session amongst us and although it was the first time each one of us saw each other, I could safely say that we had fun! :)

The HR Team

After the meeting ended, I headed back to the hotel to grab my luggage before heading to the airport. I hunted down Bengawan Solo to purchase in my opinion the most expensive sponge cake I paid (after conversion!) It was yummeh tho and I lurve it!

Since there's so much time left before my plane arrives, I spend checking out Changi Airport by taking their Skytrain from T1 to T3 and back! hahahaha..... Actually there was a lady there promoting it and insisted that I give it a try!
I was of course glad to be home to see all my boys hub included! :p and lastly before signing off on this post, here's a pic of the lovely MBS night scene.

Disney Junior premiering 11 July 2011

So as I was saying here in this post, there's more to share and take note that Disney Junior is premiering on our shores on 11 July 2011.

What is Disney Junior all about? It's a 24-hour channel dedicated to young kids ages 2 - 7 years old and it's even for their parents and caregivers. It is a magical place filled with heart, featuring characters kids love, storytelling parents trust and the enduring quality entertainment that could only come from Disney.

It is actually a re-brand from the now known Playhouse Disney to Disney Junior!

Disney Junior will not only appeal to preschoolers 2 - 5 years old but also to older kids 6 -7 years old. Yay! for this as this means Cavan will still be enjoying Disney Junior and I'll be having less headache over the two boys fighting for the TV!! as both can watch Disney Junior together :)

The whole of Marmalade Bangsar was transformed to a typical Disney scene - kyoot!!

One of the attractive item found on the table filled with M&Ms snack! It is all "handmade" as the Disney crew printed from the Celebration Centre and made these.

Mummy bloggers that night were introduced to Disney Junior by Ms Nancy Kanter, Senior Vice President, Original Programming and General Manager who flew in from US specifically to give us a sneak peek into what's coming in Disney Junior.

yours truly with Ms Kanter

So what's up the line of Disney Junior?

First, debuting alongside Disney Junior on 11 July 2011 is Jake and the Never Land Pirates. This animated series features a crew of pirates - leader Jake and pals Izzy and Cubby which follows them in their Never Land adventures as they work to outwit two infamous characters, the only Captain Hook and Smee from Disney's classic Peter Pan.

We were shown a snippet of it and I love the catchy tune it has. I'm very very sure both my boys will lurve this show!

New programs lined up includes Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! - an exciting series starring Dr. Seuss' beloved Cat in the Hat! If you're a Dr. Seuss fan, you'll be delighted with this.

The much loved shows shown currently on Playhouse Disney - Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Jungle Junction, Little Ensteins, Special Agent Oso, Word World will continue to play.

What I look forward to is the Disney Poetry Shorts. This showcases poems for children set to scenes from Disney classics. You never go wrong with a good poem!

After witnessing firsthand the new line ups, we were treated to yummilicious dinner which has wacky cute names to it!

We ended the night with a group photo and I'm delighted that I had a chance to attend this gathering and learn about Disney Junior. Disney characters always has a special place in my heart since I'm a kid till now :))

So don't forget to mark your calendars on 11 July 2011 and catch the Jake and the Never Land Pirates debuting on Disney Junior @ 1pm!

Birthday Party @ KLGCC

Sometime early last month, Cavan got an invitation to his classmate birthday party at KLGCC! Yes it's at the exclusive KL Golf & Country Club, the place where we had wanted to host our wedding dinner but unable to as the place could not fit in the number of tables we expected.

Lots of balloons streaming down from the ceiling. Colourful ~ beautiful! I loike :))

Our plan was to leave Cavan there and we will go somewhere else to hang out while waiting to pick him up. However, this plan got scrapped off as our lil one was enjoying himself and as the invitation was also extended to the family we decided to hang around there so that Caden also gets to enjoy the fanfare of a kid's party.

While waiting for all guests to arrive, the kids had a craft session where there decorated a door plate. Cavan did one for his brother Caden as well :)

Magic show was up next and the kids had a fab time being entertained by the Magician Koko. We seen him before when we attended Nuffnang's Friso Family Day Out in 2010. I still remember vividly that Cavan was scared of him then whenever he put on his red robe. Kinda resemble those evil people that you see in movies hehehehe.....

While the big brother was enjoying himself with his school and class mates, the lil brother was no exception and mingled with all the big koko and cheh chehs there. He just made himself fit right in!

Lil Caden enjoying himself, clapping hands somemore!

There were also games lined up for the kids and after the cake blowing session, each of the kiddos had a chance at beating down the pinata to get their goody bag stuff.

And while all these were happening and the lil brother is not able to partake, he chilled out with daddy at the cozy sofa and watched people bowl for the kids party was just next to the bowling centre. Pretty cool coz there's 2 lanes for kids bowling and after the party session, no need to guess where all the kids went lah.... they qued and had a bowl themselves!

Magical Musicals Gala Premiere

Remember this post about Magical Musicals coming to town?

I missed the chance to go Behind the Scene this time as I was attending another event - Proton Exora VIP Test Drive that day. Anyhow thanks to ambp, we attended the Magical Musicals Gala Premiere on 10 June 2011.

I was amazed at how they transformed the stage. It's spectacular! :)

The show started off with a short speech by Aaron Soo, CEO of Sunway Lagoon and also the Executive Producer of Magical Musicals.

This time Aaron together with West End Musical veterans, Chris Colby - Director & Producer and David Kort - Choreographer brings us a night of glitzy glamour that cost a whooping RM3 million in production!!

Chris Colby and David Kort

The show started with a bang! and for the 1st half of the show we were all entertained by the songs and dances.

the three good looking leading cast members

We were also treated to Rihanna's hit - Umbrealla. Can you spot those blue lights emitting from their umbreallas? Cool work! Together now, lets go ella ella eh eh eh, under my umbrealla ella ella......

Is this scene familiar? Yep, it's from Saturday Night Fever!

the three pretty gals leading cast members

We were even entertained by Jaiho. Definitely one of our favourite! Check out their belly dancing moves! Don't you just want to gravate your hips with them?

And with all those upbeat songs and move, we were also memerised by this scene. Simply magical don't you think?

Ooh, one thing I have to say is the Amphitheatre is very breezy now. They have installed huge fans and you feel cool throughout the show. Thumbs up for this upgrade!

Don't wait any longer, grab your tickets now and head down to Sunway Lagoon's Amphitheatre and experience the Magical Musicals yourself! The show will be on till 17 July 2011.

You can get your tickets via the official ticketing agent www.airasiaredtix.com or call 603 - 8775 4666.

Proton Exora VIP Test Drive

We scored a spot at the Proton Exora VIP Test Drive Session on 4 June 2011. It was a whole day event from 9.00am to 4.30pm.

Once registered, we were each given a tag and split into Team A and Team B. We were in Team B.
me and my tag!

Breakfast was served and we filled our tummies with yummy Malaysian fare - nasi lemak! Shortly after, the program started off and with a Welcome Note from En. Ahmad Nasyami, Project Manager - Exora VIP Test Drive Session.
he's young and available :p

After a very short Welcome Note, we were then given a Safety Talk & Presentation on S.P.A.C.E by Mr. Kenneth Chiew, the Driving Instructor. We were also shown a video on crash test and was advise NOT to try it at home!

Kenneth Chiew, Driving Instructor

Proton Edar also lined up some interesting speakers that gave talks ranging from Child Development, Relationship, Advance Styling to Investment Talk.

The day started off with Dr. Alvin Ng, Clinical Psychologist from UKM on Child Development. He explained to us the various areas of development for a child. I heart this Dr. Alvin for his talk was very lively and I have a feeling he relates well to a kid. He even wore a cartoon neck tie! How kyoot!! hahahaha.....

Soon after his interesting talk, we were given 5 mins toilet break to get ready for we are all heading to Desa Park City for the Test Drive!! woo-hooo!.....

group photo before we depart to Desa Park City

interior of the Exora, it comes with a GPS!

our Test Drive Circuit at Desa Park City

The Exora's that we drove all the way from Sunway Giza lined up ready for some rock n roll!
1st car on the left, the black Exora BKH 6052 - our car for the day :)

Besides just test driving the Exoras, we had to answer a set of questions and partake in two activities at the Driving Circuit.

1st activity - Blind Fold Parking.
This tests the communication between the couple where the drive will be blind fold and the partner has to guide the driver to side park the Exora.

Looks easy I tell you but because Exora is so huge, we had problem parking it in!! We took about 3:09:03 to get it in!! The max time allowed to score high points was 2 minutes and some participants took 1:38 to get it in! Bravo to them.

Both of us in action!

2nd activity - Storage Challenge
We were required to travel suits, golf bag and baby stroller into the boot and usher "father, mother and sister" into the car. The fastest you get the stuff and your family into the car including yourself scores high points.

We packed in ours at 0:49 seconds! Not bad eh??

During the performance test drive session, each of us were given 2 rounds to fully test out Exora's ABS and Balancing Performance. I must say that I'm pretty impressed with the stability of it especially when turning in tight corners and making U-turns! The only thing that I find lacking is the pick-up speed.

You get to handle the car to the max!! as I'm pretty sure for your own car, you won't handle it this way by stepping on the accelerator to the max and hitting the brakes down really hard would you? We did this not only once but many many many times!!

From the performance test drive, I also know more about my driving style ie. cautious drive! hehehehe.... So you're safe if you're sitting in my car and I'm behind the wheels eh :p
with Kenneth and Alven, Driving Instructors

After spending a couple of solid hours at the Driving Circuit, it was time to head back to Full House @ Sunway Giza for our lunch.

Full and rested, we continued with our series of talks. Dr. Johnben Loy, Marriage & Family Therapist came up and presented to us about ways to show your ♥. From the talk I know what's my partner's love definition is and I also found mine.

5 ways to show
(5 love languages)
- words of affirmation
- quality time
- acts of service
- physical touch

the speakers : Dr. Alvin Ng, Dr. Johnben Loy, Ms Cherrise Tan and En. Al Jazzura Khan

Next was the Advance Styling Presentation by Ms Cherrise Tan, Image Consultant, Adamaya Image Consultancy. She shared with us what accessories can change our look for the day and night. So ladies, we need to invest in accessories. No need to be expensive accessories, cheap ones will do!

I learnt that I would need to invest in a chain belt and wear it at my highest mid point of the tummy bulge which makes it more slender hehehe.... The guys were not spared and hubby had a "make-over" hahahaha......

make-over session in progress

We were then given time to complete all our questionnaires and fill up the evaluation forms. Kenneth came back on stage and did a product wrap up.

The last talk was by En. Al Jazzura Khan, Financial Consultant from LVG Consultant Sdn Bhd. He gave each couple 2 "jars" and we were required to fill up the FFA (Financial Fortress Account) with all the RM1 notes that we have. Basically we need to save up and plan for our future. Sikit-sikit lama-lama jadi bukit!!

By then the results were tabulated and it was the prize giving ceremony. It started off with consolation prizes and our name were not called. Little did we know that we were in the top 3 and all these while I thought gone lah, our form got misplaced!!

So when the 3rd prize winner was called and it was not us, I was thinking in my head "really, we got the 2nd prize??" coz for sure we are not able to get 1st prize since our timing for the blind folded parking was not great.

And lo and behold, indeed our name was called upon and we won the 2nd prize!!! woo-hoo!!!....

and what did we get? We got COLD HARD CASH!!! So very generous of Proton Edar! Thank you, thank you!!! :D

Not only the cash, we also got Thann Sanctuary voucher for Full Body Massage! What a great way to unwind!
We are really happy to get 2nd prize, it's really a surprised to us and all in all we had an exhilarating fun day with Proton Exora's VIP Test Drive session. If you have the chance, do join in the fun for an unforgetable experience!
