My Learning World

~ It's a whole new world out there ~

image from mylearningworld.com.my

Sometimes I come across this quote, sentence? Anyway, it is indeed a whole new world out there in the eyes of the kids. Dont you agree?

Right from when they were a baby, the angle that they look at things is so much different from us. That's why occasionally when you read books, they always ask the parents to get down on your knees and view the world from your child's eye.

This brings us to this "My Learning World". Located at The Strand, Kota Damansara; parents are given a chance for a preview into the facilities they offer this December 18th. My Learning World is a concept that basically is to enrich the mind by providing the environment, guidance and motivation. It is a place where knowledge is nurtured. From Reading Room, Computer Lab to Art & Craft Studio, you can rest assured that while your kids are having fun, they are learning at the same time! It's a win-win situation :)

Do head down and have a sneak peek at this new place and who knows, it may just turn out to be your next favourite place to hang out!

Come and join me (yes I'm going!) for this preview where activities has been lined up for both the kids and parents alike.

My Learning World
The Strand, Kota Damansara
18 December 2010 (2pm - 5pm)

Please email your contact details to Cheng Chee Fong (cfcheng@mylearningworld.com.my) to confirm your attendance. You can check out My Learning World here.

See you there!

Behind The Scene of Peter Pan the Musical

I scored myself an invite to take a peek at this upcoming musical production with other bloggers. We all gathered at Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre on Saturday, Nov 20th for a "BTS" (behind the scene) with the cast and crew of Peter Pan the Musical.

Molly & I, Judy & I

Met and befriended fellow bloggers Merryn, Molly, Judy, Tini, Kelvin and Bok. Didnt managed to have a pic with each of them unfortunately.

Upon arrival after registration, each of us were given a tag. Not your usual tag for we all had a PRESS tag! Not everyday you can have a PRESS tag unless your job is a reporter eh... :) Thus our journey of being a media press for a few hours to cover the "BTS" of Peter Pan begins.....

my PRESS tag

We were all ferried to the Amphitheatre in a train. This train from the opening night onwards will be decorated and each patron of the musical will have the experience of riding on Peter Pan's Express Train to Neverland.

The entrance to the Amphitheatre

All of us were greeted by the CEO of Sunway Lagoon and given an introduction as to why Peter Pan was chosen as the theme where West End veterans Chris Colby and David Kort will produce and choreograph so that audiences will be able to experience a world class musical extravaganza in a unique, never before experienced, location.

Aaron Soo, CEO of Sunway Lagoon

"One of the hallmarks of Peter Pan The Musical at Sunway Lagoon is the collaborative effort between a prestigious Malaysian venue and set stage together with an International West End cast, crew and creative team. This is a very rare commemorative showcase of local and international artistic talent; using West End theatrical direction" said Aaron Soo, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Lagoon.

We were then given an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the musical. We actually had about 8 minutes of the show!! What a surprise! Awesome indeed!! :)

scenes from the musical

Even went on stage to hang out with Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and Wendy for some Q&A session. The props are done so finely and detailed and it's all done by Sunway Lagoon's own in-house team!

Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and Wendy

the detailed and beautiful props

Peter Pan
(Mark when offstage)

Wendy & I

Known as LJ off stage, she started Performing Arts when she was 16 years old. By the way, she just got married 4 months ago on 101010! :)

Captain Hook & I
[took this specially for Cavan :)]

Captain Hook (Michael offstage) started very very young in these musicals. He was 9 years old when he first performed! Such passion they have for Performing Arts right?

Again with Peter and Wendy

Check out their shoes, especially Peter Pan's green shoes! :p and I just luv Wendy's shoes, simple and nice, sparkly too :)

You can expect some of the cast to have more than one change of outfit during the musical. Captain Hook will play Wendy's father in the opening. Audiences will experience Christmas in London coz they will be snow!!

with David Kort, Choreographer

According to David, plus minus we'll see about 20 odd pax of cast members in this musical production.

"All musical productions are different but not all of them are unique. In the case of Peter Pan The Musical at the Amphitheatre @ Sunway Lagoon, the performers and audiences can truly immerse themselves in the Neverland-like atmosphere of the outdoor amphitheatre" said David.

Read the keyword : Experience it OUTDOOR!

We wrapped up our coverage by proceeding to LightHouse for refreshments with the cast members. Food served is yummy and quite heavy actually. We had fries, popcorn chicken, tomyam soup, fried kuay teow, fried mee, fried rice and a plate of stir fried sausages!

Are you excited enough? I cant wait to catch it on the 2nd night screening. It's just too bad that I cant attend the Gala Premiere on Friday, Nov 26th as I'll be out of town. What a bummer!! Nevertheless at least I'm catching it on the 2nd night *o*

Peter Pan The Musical will be stagged at Sunway Lagoon from November 26th 2010 until January 2nd 2011. What are you waiting for? Head on over to http://www.sunwaylagoon.com.my/PeterPan.asp for more information and experience The Neverland in a whimsical ambience with a yuletide theme!!

As in the true spirit of giving this Christmas season, Sunway Lagoon has also urged local homes and associations for the underprivileged to approach them as they will be allocating them up to 400 seats for every show. Please contact Vanessa Tan / Nikki Goh at +603-7710-3288 to find out how your home or association can take part in this one of a kind experience.

Yours truly with the cast of Peter Pan The Musical

"The true essence of the story of Peter Pan is more than just staying young forever. It is about staying true to yourself and having fun" - Chris Colby

Giap and Lai's Birthday

I nearly forgot about this birthday post of Giap and Lai! hehehe...

We went for Vegetarian fine dining this round @ Kechara Oasis. A special request from the birthday boy (actually a belated birthday for the boy coz he's birthday was in Oct).

Birthday boy and birthday girl

This round we took a group photo BEFORE we attack the food! Nice eh, all cutleries still in placed neatly :)

We ordered in total 8 dishes including the dessert. Everything was so yummy yum yumz! I just find that their portion is a tad too small especially the 5 Vege Stir Fry. We ordered BIG but when it arrives on our table I commented is that BIG?? It look like small portion to me lah....

1st row (L-R) : Deep Fried & Steamed Round Momos, 5 Vege Stir Fry, Kechara Mystical Pot (Cavan's fav!) and Minced Meat Petai
2nd row (L-R) : Thai Butter Hedgehog Mushroom, Tong Po Yuk Beef, Curry Mutton and Red Bean Banana Rolls

Chocolate Strawberry Cake

I just find Secret Recipe cakes nowadays is too soft. This is the second time we encounter the cake "senget" to one side when taken out from the box!!

I love this family photo. Very seldom I get good shot of my whole family especially getting Cavan to be in, not to say smile. Even though he has a piece of vege in his mouth I loike it! hehehe...

My two Prince

The gals

And before we parted ways, we took another group photo in front of the signage. Now, I dont need you to tell me who is the person that "stands out" in the photo. No need to remind about the height okay :p

Till the next birthday if we are continuing next year....

Will You Marry Me?

The new kind of way to propose.
Gone are the days of flowers, chocolates and even teddy bears! :)

PETRONAS StreetSmart Exhibition

Guess where were we, with molecules all around us and a dino that greeted us as well!

Yea, we were at Petrosains. It was our first time stepping foot in there!

Soon after attending Kleenex Family Day, I told you about this invitation didnt I? Guess who I saw? I met Mickey, Donald, Pluto and Goofy!! So what we were doing there?

We attended the PETRONAS StreetSmart-Lessons for Life exhibition held now until November 21st at Petrosains, The Discovery Centre in Suria, KLCC. It is a colaboration between Petronas and Playhouse Disney to raise awareness on road safety among parents and their preschool kids.

Playhouse Disney crew were there to entertain the kids with story telling basing on the up-coming debut of "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse : Road Rally" a one-hour special about road safety. The premiere of this show is on November 18 at 9.30am on Playhouse Disney (Astro Channel 613).

Alas, Cavan is going to miss this as he'll be celebrating his birthday in kindy during that time. Moreover it's not school holiday yet. We shall catch the repeat :)

Besides the story telling session, the exhibition features simulated road systems and traffic situations that will gave kids and adults alike the chance to experience and identity common problems with road usage.

There were Q&A for the kids to answer to grab prizes. Cavan was up on stage and managed to answer a question of which the mummy ME didnt pay attention coz was too busy snapping pictures! LOL...

The lady that extended the invitation to us. Thank you Sophia!

Do bring your kids or heck yourself to this interesting exhibition. You get to meet Mickey and his gang on life sized cut-outs LOL!!!......

My two boys enjoying themselves. You see even a 14 month old can enjoy meeting life sized cut-outs of Mickey and gang. Why not you right? hehehe....

The goodies we got, books books and more books!! :) The Blue Ribbon Award "Who's Not Sleepy?" hard book is the prize won by Cavan for answering a street safety question. Not bad leh the prizes....

You can also get your chance to grab cool Playhouse Disney merchandise by participating in the Rockin' Road Rally Contest at playhouse disney site. Go and call upon "TOODLES" to help you out yea!!

Meeska Mooska happy day to you! :)

If I had Rapunzel's Hair

Rapunzel ~ A Tangled Tale will be hitting the cinemas this 25 Nov!

Walt Disney Pictures presents RAPUNZEL: A TANGLED TALE, an action-packed, swashbuckling, animated musical comedy about the girl behind 70 feet of magical, golden hair. A princess stolen from her parents’ castle as a baby, Rapunzel (voice of MANDY MOORE) is locked in a hidden tower longing for adventure. Now an imaginative and determined teenager, she takes off on a hilarious, hair-raising escapade with the help of a dashing bandit (voice of ZACHARY LEVI). With the secret of her royal heritage hanging in the balance and her captor in pursuit, Rapunzel and her cohort find adventure, heart, humor, and hair… lots of hair.

With original music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater, this comedic re-imagining of the classic Brothers Grimm fairytale comes to theaters in Disney Digital 3D™.

When I was younger, I always longed for long hair BUT my mother would always say, its very hard to maintain long hair, short hair good....

So well, as far as I can remember, my hair is always short because it's easy to maintain. This however, does not keep me from longing and wishing and dreaaammming.....! :)

So comes Rapunzel who has long hair but it's not the usual long hair for, her prince charming can climb on her hair up to the tower to rescue her! Her hair is so strong it acts as a ladder!! If I only had such long hair ~ 70 feet of magical golden hair! Think about it, the colour is nice, the hair is long which is not your usual "long" hair what can you do with it? Don't forget, it's MAGICAL!! :)

I wont need any ladders in the house, anyone want to reach high places just need to give me a call and use it as a ladder. Housework is so much easier, I would just need to "command" my hair to sweep all those cobwebs away in high and hard to reach places. Cleaning the floor is always easy peasy, fan out the hair and wipe away :)

Ohh ohh, kids can play slide.... just slide all the way down and you wont find a single strand of hair broken!! It's so magical that you wont need to spray and apply all sorts of chemical on it!! Talk about being economical!!

When not in use, just braid it up, tuck it up nicely and keep. Better still command it to style itself lavishly and make me pretty! :p

*pinch* *pinch* Back to reality, I really cant remember when I really really had an eccentric/worse hair style ever. The only I could think off is during college when I had a haircut that I didnt like very much. Oh well after that incident, I make sure each time I go to the hair saloon they cut a style suits me!!

All that said and done, I try to avoid bad hair day but this photo below, the hair is messy but I loike it! *blueh* :p
