Being Touristy & The Chateau

The roads were congested when we head down town right into the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Parking proved to be a problem in the mall thus we had no choice but to park our car further away and walk.

Felt like a tourist walking the streets of Kay-el with backpack and one kiddo strapped securely and the other hands held tightly :)

We crossed thru BB Park and even snapped a pic in Sg. Wang Plaza hahaha....

After shopping around, we headed to Chateau for dinner. Last month, I won a RM100 voucher from RedFM to dine here and so here we are to try their what they can offer.

my ever ready to pose for picture darling Caden

We had garlic bread, mushroom soup, pizza and baked seabass. Wanna guess who had the Hoegaarden and who had the latte? Not Cavan definitely for he had fresh orange juice...

Overall I think I only liked the garlic bread and Hoegaarden! hahahaha.... oklah the baked seabass not bad. The other two dish, mmmm...... let's just say I wont order again if I ever step foot in Chateau again.

Caden checking out the surroundings outside

We headed home after spending half day in Kay-el city and everyone was bone tired!

Winter Solstice ~ 2010

We celebrated this year's Winter Solstice at Pantai Seafood Restaurant, Kg. Ara. Being a weekday, it was a rush to get home, get ready and head to the restaurant. Not helping is the rain and jam!

Needless to say, my family was the last to arrived! hehehe.... My house is very near yet we were late due to the traffic jam ggrrr.... "so near yet so far".

the whole group except my family. no wide angle lens so this will do lah...

We had the set menu. Found that it was so so only. My personal opinion : the standard drop a lot!

Besides chit chat, the kiddos entertained themselves with "Talking Tom" (an application found in Apple and Android market). Even Caden enjoys talking to Tom :)

.... yet another year has past. Chinese New Year is just around the corner! yikes...

Craft Party ~ Sugar Scrubs & Bath Salts

Dec 19th, 2010 - A beautiful Sunday morning. I attended my 1st Craft Party hosted by Murni together with a friend.

The venue : Wondermilk @ Damansara Uptown. A pretty nice combination of craft+cupcake = fun + bliss!!

We had a buffet spread of ingredients to use ranging from olive oil, sugar, salts, oatmeal, baking soda, essential oils, green tea bags, honey, milk and dried flowers. Just looking at it makes me happy.... :)

our buffet spread

I choose to start by making Sugar Scrubs. We were each given an instruction and recipe booklet but was given the free hand to add whatever we wanted. Of course, you need to test if you like the fragrant or not lah.. if not your scrubs turns out to be yucky then instead of relaxing you it's giving you more pressure!! :p

my concoction of sugar scrub
~ consist of brown sugar, oatmeal, dried rose buds, dried lavender, olive oil and a combination of grapefruit, lavender and orange essential oil ~

Satisfied with the concoction, into the lil jars it goes :)

Started the Bath Salts then. This is pretty simple as the ingredients are all dry.

my concoction of bath salts
~ epsom salt, baking soda, green tea (remove teabag) and dried jasmine ~

At a corner, there's supplies for you to decorate your jars.

We were also taught how to decorate the jar lid. I think using fabric instead of paper would be much easier for jar lids.

my finished product!

Thoroughly enjoyed myself in this party and can't wait for the next one! All thanks to Murni. Do check out her craft blog handmadekl if you're interested and want to know when's the next craft party.

Dad's Birthday

We celebrated dad's birthday as a family by going makan-makan (yea, eat eat again LOL!). This time we tried a restaurant located in Ampang recommended by my brother.

Spot the birthday boy in the above photo? Wanna guess how old is birthday boy?

My dad is 69 years old this year, a December baby :) Very tech savvy, interested in gadgets and still strong! Bless the Lord! Amen!!

We feasted ourselves to lala, fish, meat, crabs, prawns, veges and bread! hehehehe..... You can see the photos below yourselves....

Lala in superior broth proves to be quite spicy for most of us. It really "sting" your tongue. The "kai lan" in claypot is something different, the steam fish is wonderful ~ easy to eat as the flesh has been cut into slices and on top of the bone, spreads a layer of taufu before the cut fish fleshes were laid back on top. The steam flower crabs are so fresh and full of flesh. Same goes for the prawns, big prawns! :)

This restaurant serve a unique dessert, take a look below and see if you can guess it right.

Yeah, its a jelly but what jelly? Taa-daaaa ~ herbal jelly. Usually dessert served would be cut fresh fruits or "tong sui". The herbs for this is quite strong eh...
Overall, Riverview Restaurant @ Ampang serves really really fresh seafood and best of all, the service is good. Price wise, found it a bit pricey but the freshness of the seafood makes up for it! :

Sneak Peek ~ My Learning World

Remember this post? Well I was there on time :) and had a great afternoon finding out about My Learning World. Love the concept and the best part, my boy loved it especially the "computing" time he had!

We were given a mini tour by Mr Cheng Chee Fong, Director of My Learning World. Once I've stepped foot into the place I loike coz the walls were decorated beautifully :)

Tell me, can you resist such cuteness? Materials are available extensively in this Arts & Craft studio for the kids to get right down to business in creating their crafts or painting.

Check out this stone aged cum modern basin (coz it's has the modern tap! hehehe...). Love it dont you? Creative I say... and ooh those rocks you see there, not only are they decorations, it is used for rock painting!

Next up, the Computer Lab. Kids will be supervised and guided by computer experts from Futurekids.

Cavan getting a personalised session on how to handle the PC.

Come and meet robotics doggie. He adhere to your clap and such... the kiddos luv him to bits!

We were also treated to light refreshments during the preview. The kids even had a story telling time by Ann in the Reading Room.

Even my lil one took part and stayed put for like a few seconds? LOL before he ventured into other rooms. Well this is what a 15 month old will do right? Zoom here zoom there, checking out every corners there is!

Each kiddo was given a lovely decorated gingerbread man and for the parents some stationeries by Pelikan.

Overall the afternoon was enjoyable, kids get to roam in and out of each of the room and partake in the activities.

If you like to find out more about My Learning World, give them a call :)

3D2N Retreat....

We went for a short retreat :)

Started off our journey after breakfast and had a nice drive up North. We stopped at Sitiawan and had a bowl of cendol @James Cendol stall to cool us down in the scorching sun! It was an easy find as it's right in front of the Maha Mariamman Temple, Jalan Lumut. James Cendol is famous for its red bow tie attire as well as having served the Sultan Perak before.

After a cool down, we continued our journey and arrived at our destination ~ Damai Laut!

Cavan and his "peace" sign. He's currently at this stage whereby most of the photos he took has this "peace" sign.

At the lobby, we were given a welcome drink and this counter is decorated with REAL gingerbread man dough! It emits a wonderful smell when you're around that area! yum yum :)

The rest of the day and days were spent hanging out at the beach, digging for "lala's" (clams), playing in the pool and basicaly just lazing around the resort.

We liked the resort pretty much, a good place to unwind and get away from all the hustle and bustle of city life.

I was really into the retreat mood as I did not keep track of time except for feeding time for Caden which he was also on holiday mood, as he rejected his milk and prefer to eat solid ie. what we ate!! Funny though on our way back, he seems to know that holiday's over, its back to normal and drank his milk as usual..... puzzles me till now

Three days past by too quickly and we need to pack up and head home. On our way, we stopped and bought Sitiawan's famous "Gong Pian". The aroma was heavenly and it tasted wonderful eating it fresh from the oven! Luckily it was open the day we head home as the shop was closed on Sunday when we headed to Damai Laut.

crispy aromatic onion gong pian

On our way we passed by a vast paddy field and had a scenic time looking at the grenery. Good for our eyes :p Also spotted lots of these white birds at the paddy field.

And then baam! we are back in Kay-el city with the crawling traffic!

Ooh well, until the next retreat......

Avillion Port Dickson 26-27 Nov 2010

A day after our Christmas lunch, we went for Company Trip to Avillion Port Dickson. It was my first time staying at Avillion and indeed it's a beautiful resort. The service however sucks big time from the KL Sales Office right up to the resort itself!! We encountered so many challenges arranging this trip and I dont even want to start talking about it again!

I stayed at a Garden Chalet with my colleague. Found that the Garden Chalet is nicer than the Water Chalet. The bathroom is huge with a bathtub right in the middle! Found it nicer than the Water Chalet as the water chalet kinda run down.
We had treasure hunt in the evening after checking in and refreshing ourselves. The rest of free & easy. This year is really relaxing trip.

The highlight for me was taking pic with two chicks on my shoulder! hehehehe... They have a really mini zoo in the resort and on certain day and time, you get to go in the feed them. Besides chicken, there's rabbit and peacocks too.

For a family get away, it will be a nice resort to go with the kiddos.
