Emoticons Cupcakes

Baking bug hit me again. Since tomorrow would be the last day before school holiday start and Cavan's kindy is celebrating Teacher's Day, made orange cupcakes for him to bring to kindy and share with his friends and teachers.

Worked on a different recipe for the cupcakes and still my usual recipe is better. Halfway thru my baking, backache struck! aarrghhh...guess I got the heart to bake but my physical body is asking me to rest more. Not helping is when I'm beating the batter and such, baby's moving a lot in my tummy :) Guess it's too noisy for the little fella hehehe...

Besides bringing cupcakes to kindy, Cavan made these for his teachers as well (of course with mummy's help :p)
Handmade Happy Teacher's Day tag hung on paper flowers for his Teacher Anita (class teacher), Ms Jessie (music teacher), Ms Zul and Ms Sharifah.

Catch-up over Lebanese cuisine

Met-up with the "Senior Citizen" group for lunch in Sunway Pyramid after months of silence. Well not that silent as we do keep in touch with each other thru phone calls, sms and facebook. Just lack the gathering part :)

We decided to go Lebanese this round and choose Tarbush Restaurant, an Arabic & Lebanase Cuisine. All turned up except for Justin who's working. He missed out so much!

My family was the last to arrived as I got delayed in office due to some miscommunication on renovation permit duh! All has already ordered and we took our time to order ours. Here are some of the stuff we had.

On the house, this is pickled stuff
* the pinkish pickle should be beetroot, the waiter told my friend to inform me that pregnant lady should not consume it (reason unknown to us) *

Not quite an appetizer, these deep-fried spring rolls may be enjoyed as a side dish or for snacks. A guaranteed mainstay at any Middle Eastern table. May choose stuffing of either lamb, vegetable, chicken or cheese.

Mushroom Soup
A thick and satisfying soup made only from the freshest oyster and wild mushrooms

Shish Tawook
Juicy boneless chicken breast marinated and grilled, server with Tarbush Garlic Sauce

The meat is full of aroma and can be eaten without any sauce. However a dip in their garlic sauce is heavenly yum-yum!

Rice done the Middle Eastern way, steamed with herbs and spices so the flavour is buried in every grain. May choose either succulent lamb chunks or half baked chicken

The portion is big enough to be shared by two person if you're a small eater.

We adjourned to Zen Cafe for drinks. The group surprised me with a mini mudcake as my birthday was earlier that week.

Chit chatted and we then went our separate ways. Till the next gathering...

1st Parents Teacher Meeting ~ May 23rd

We were notified of the date and our allocated time was 8.40am!!! So early to start a weekend! Bummer...

Anyway, hubby and myself reached the kindy at 8.30am and proceeded to meet Cavan's class teacher - Teacher Anita.

Overall comments were good. We both knew Cavan loves to take care of those younger than him but we were surprised by the teacher's comment in his progress report that when the younger ones cries, he will take tissue and wipe their tears!! hahaha...

He's gaining confidence which is good as it helps him work on his stuff faster. Sensorial and phonics skills need more practice. This boy's attention is short when it comes to ABC or 123. This we know coz at home he just got no patience when we try to teach him ABC. Verbal he's more than willing to roll it off his tongue singing ABC song or uttering numbers. Just that when it comes to recognising, we hit the wall. He will just give you his cheeky smile and eye language to test you back so that you utter the answer for him!

Chatted with the teacher and she mentioned that sometimes Cavan will get confuse on shapes eg. trapezium, quaterfoil, etc.. I was sitting there hearing this and nearly utter out loud myself, how does those shape looks like? hehehe... Now only I know they learn not simple stuff in kindy at this age!

This was also the first time that we saw his work in school. Occasionally Cavan brings back his craft work but actual workbook is all left in the class. We were given the books to bring back home to run thru and see what he does before returning it to the kindy on Monday. From his work, we were able to see that he got better with it like coloring, drawing lines, etc..

All in we are satisfied with his progress :)

Leaving you with a phonic song which we found on youtube. This song is recommended by his kindy's principal.

My Bee-day...

Never liked my birthday to be on a working day. Usually will take the day off and pamper myself with a haircut, new style - color, etc.. but this year in my current condition cant have any chemical touching my scalp, I just save my leave and went to work!

The day started and ended well :) Few of my colleagues bought me lunch at Italiannies. A very fulfilling lunch.

Hubby planned to bring me to dinner at Bubba Gump since I've not tried their food before. However, I decided otherwise and instead had dinner with my whole family at a Chinese Restaurant. I was presented a mini tiramisu at home accompanied with live birthday song sung by non-other than Cavan :)

Comes next year, there'll be another addition to celebrate my birthday together.

Craft a Crocodile

Another theme day in Cavan's kindy and this time the theme is Animals. Previous theme day - Family, we only prepared simple moustache and beard for Cavan to go as a Grandpa (no pictures on this as I was then having bad morning sickness).

This round, we bought manila papers and "constructed" the body and head for him. Cavan helped out a little on the coloring part. He was more interested in cutting out the parts actually!!

(1) checking out the diagram on the parts to cut out
(2) coloring and decorating the body
(3) the spikes
(4) the head and body ready to be worn

Few poses for mummy to snap as a remembrance before adorning it to kindy as for sure when he returns home, the whole thingy will be squashed!

On Cloud 9...

Last Friday upon reaching home, Cavan sang this song to me. I was surprised and he really made my day!!

Mummy Darling,
Mummy Darling
Mummy Darling, I Love You
You're my precious,
You're my sweetheart,
Mummy Darling, I Love You

Pardon his pronunciation of precious. It's like pressure!! hehehehe.... Am I "pressuring" you boy??

Today, his kindy has a Mother's Day event for an hour. All mummies, grandmas and aunties were invited. It started at 9am and ends exactly at 10am.

All the children were lined up as in assembly and they started with singing their Good Morning song. Thereafter, a short explanation to the children on how hard it was for mummies to carry them for 9 months and how rewarding it was for mummies to see their achievements.

The children were then told to look for their mummies and the above song "Mummy Darling" was sang by the kid to their mum (english and malay version) followed by a dance song. So sweet.

Mummy and kid then proceeded to their classroom for a craft project together - decorate a hairclip. We then had a "red circle" time where we sat and sang songs together and finished with another dance "If you're happy, clap your hands, etc..." It was then time to bid goodbye and the children continued with their classes.

This is our finished product! :)

Happy Mother's Day to all mummies and not forgetting grandmas. Sharing my happiness and hope you enjoy Mummy Darling song!

Labour Day

May 1st is Labour Day but we all acted as tourist guide to hubby's friend Voltaire from Philippines who is now working in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and happened to be in KL for some workshop.

We picked him up and headed to Klang for lunch. First time he had grilled crab as usually his crabs are done differently in PNG.

Cavan and his crab.
He had the whole crab & 1 side of the pincer from daddy's crab by himself!

After lunch headed to Putrajaya for some seeing as we cant think of a better place to go in KL and since Voltaire's staying right in the heart of Bukit Bintang, shopping malls are out as he had explored it himself. The day is HOT and Putrajaya is crowded with tourist.

After a few snaps, we went to the food court and had ice-kacang which cost RM8 each which is a total ripped-off for it is only piled high with ice shavings and a dismay quantity of corns, red beans and nata de coco with a scoop of ice-cream on top. Funny thing is, it came with a piece of curry puff and small slice of fruit cake on the side!

It was evening by the time we left Putrajaya and headed back.

We met up again with Voltaire later in Parkroyal KL for drinks. We left the hotel at midnite.

Note Voltaire's new look!
He had a hair cut when we left him in the hotel after Putrajaya

All of us are totally drained out today....

Backyard Monsters & Dinosaurs

Brought Cavan to Backyard Monsters & Dinosaurs held in Mid Valley on 25 April. I was so looking forward to join him in exploring the dinos there but due to all the "taboo" that comes with pregnancy and lotsa advice of telling me not to go and see, I heeded the majority's advice and stayed away by loittering around the mall while waiting for hubby and Cavan to finish exploring the monsters and dinosaurs. Only paid RM10 for hubby's tix, discounted with Astro's bill whereas Cavan entered FOC.

They only took 1 hour as the exhibition site is not big. Glad that Cavan dared to stand close to the dinos to take picture. Been sorta "brain washing" him days before hahahaha.....kept on telling him, although you see the dino's moving, it's fake okay boy it's fake. And since mummy cant go in coz your little baby is too small, you gotta take lotsa pictures for mummy to see! hehehehe.... It definitely paid off!!

A shot with me before entering the exhibition

posing with dino
It was a Starbucks break after the exhibition for them both and leg rest for me..

I Can Relate to Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Yippee!! another movie coming up...will I be this lucky again to get free screening passes???

The synopsis :

Celebrity photographer Connor Mead (MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY) loves freedom, fun and women…in that order. A committed bachelor with a no-strings policy, he thinks nothing of breaking up with multiple women on a conference call while prepping his next date.

Connor’s brother Paul is more the romantic type. In fact, he’s about to be married. Unfortunately, on the eve of the big event, Connor’s mockery of romance proves a real buzz-kill for Paul, the wedding party and a houseful of well wishers—including Connor’s childhood friend Jenny (JENNIFER GARNER), the one woman in his life who has always seemed immune to his considerable charm.

Just when it looks like Connor may single-handedly ruin the wedding, he gets a wake-up call from the ghost of his late Uncle Wayne (MICHAEL DOUGLAS), the hard-partying, legendary ladies man upon whose exploits Connor has modeled his lifestyle. Uncle Wayne has an urgent message for his protégé, which he delivers through the ghosts of Connor’s jilted girlfriends—past, present and future—who take him on a revealing and hilarious odyssey through a lifetime of failed relationships.

Together, they will discover what turned Connor into such a shameless player and whether he has a second chance to find – and this time, keep – the love of his life.

Reading the synopsis reminds me of a story I read to Cavan about Donald Duck being a mean unhappy snobbish lawyer that cant celebrate Christmas happily. He was visited by his late uncle who told him that he will get visits of his own image that will bring him to his past, present and future. Those visits really jerk him up and in the end it was a happy ending with him celebrating and spending his Christmas with family and friends happily.

Am I making sense?? Happy ending expected rite since it's a children story book! LOL...

Well, anyway hope I do get the special screening passes :)

Random : Edible Dino & Capsicum

To encourage Cavan to eat more, made these edible dino's for his breakfast....

Juicy yellow capsicum from Cameron Highlands given by my parents neighbour...real big!
