I searched up "fong-mok" and the english equivalent to it is call 'hives'. Eek, this is not a nice name, so let's leave it as "fong-mok".

My boy developed this whenever he throws his tantrum. As he's throwing his tantrum, he sweat, body heat rises up and in this weather nowadays, he'll be drench wet!!

The "fong-mok" (red patches similar to rashes) develop whenever he throws his tantrum. Funny thing is these red patches disappears the minute he's cool down (ie. no sweat, in air-cond room). Not taking any chances, brought him to the child specialist and got to know that this is only "fong-mok" and nothing serious.

The cause of it could be due to a lot of factors, some of which is listed below (I cannot remember all the doctor mentioned lah..) :
  • weather (being in and out of hot and cold environment)
  • stress
  • trauma
  • food intake (new food being introduced)
  • allergy to pets (could be new pet in the house)

His maternal grandmother and I suspect it is due to the weather as no new food was introduce, we have no pets at home, definitely no trauma and stress?? I think both of us is the one who has stress not him!! haha.

These days is just HOT HOT HOT!! even in air-conditioned room. As my boy dislike hot (like me! hehe), there's no wonder his face is really really RED when he throws his tantrum. So kena lah the "fong-mok".

Since he's so "fong-mok-ki" prone as the doctor put it, it is adviced that Cavan start on 'shell food' ie prawns, crab and anything 'shell' seafood when he reach 3 years old upon me posing the question to the doctor.

So, he's been thru Roseola (please read earlier post for details). Now "fong-mok". What's next boy?? You're giving your mama a big headache!!

As much as I do not want to admit it, I just realise that I'm a slightly tiny wee bit k-i-a-s-u?

Hubby and I went for a preview on Shichida Method which focuses on the whole brain development for children as young as from birth. The preview was fantastic where we were shown recorded video clips of childern on national tv live in Japan doing speed reading, photographic memory, computer-like maths ability, etc..

What impreses me most was the speed reading. The children were just practically flipping the pages of the book and the result they were able to memorise one of the pages out!!!....Is this magic or what. The other good impression based on the testimony written on the brochure was that children that went thru the Shichida Method training can calculate huge sums in a couple of minutes. I'm no good in maths and this really impreses me a lot.

My hubby actually said to me in the middle of the preview "let's sign up Cavan" for this. So happen we were seated at the back and noticed some parents at the whiteboard. Closer inspection and we realised that it was the timetable, schedule of the available classes. As Shichida Method keep their classes small (4 pax to start and max 6 pax in a class), we being the kiasu parent went to the board and start looking at the suitable time for our boy.

As he is already 18+ months old, there were only 3 classes for his age group. Weekdays were definitely out for us as both is working, that's left weekend as the only option. Alas, Sunday morning is already full!! which leave Sat at 2.30pm. No other choice, we choose Sat - 2.30pm. The class duration is 75 minutes once a week.

His class will only commence on July 7th and hopefully from there, we have enrolled him into the right course to help him develop to be a better person and make full use of his brain as the 21st century is afterall also known to be the Century of the Brain.

Besides being in Shichida Method, I'm rather keen for Cavan to continue his Kindermusik lessons as well. He just enjoys music and Kindermusik provides him an environment for him to roam, mix, socialise and well just having FUN with other kids. Let's see what hubby got to say on this.

Da big 3-0

What is this 3-0?

Yah, nothing to shout about but I've reached a point where there's no mention of the number starting with 2. Darn!!, I've reached my thirties!!! Gosh just I say THIRTIES??? This is rather alarming!!

Now what achievements have I obtained the last 29 years?

  • "hands-on" feeling of freaking out during examinations from primary right up to college
  • "experience" the good and bad side of being in the rat race
  • "upgraded" myself from the swinging single gal to a married woman
  • and now having a walking, running, whinning, shouting, tantrum throwing "toDDler" beside me (all in all, I just adore him - my son, my darling the apple of my eye (hehehe)

Hhmm, not too bad on the achievements reflecting back. There's always the future which holds more that I've yet to explore.

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me and let's toss to the future as I'm sure there will be more achievements to come!!
